Head of People & Culture

Role Overview

This leadership role designs and scales people systems that enable rapid growth, strong culture, and high performance. The position balances strategic people leadership with hands-on execution across a fast-scaling organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve organizational structures to support growth and scale
  • Lead workforce planning in partnership with Finance and business leaders
  • Support reorganizations and change management initiatives
  • Translate company values into clear leadership behaviors and expectations
  • Act as steward of culture during periods of growth and change
  • Build and roll out a practical manager effectiveness framework
  • Coach senior leaders and people managers
  • Design performance management, career paths, and succession plans
  • Address underperformance early and fairly
  • Build scalable HR systems, policies, and people processes
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and governance across geographies
  • Establish people analytics, dashboards, and data-driven decision tools
  • Partner with Finance on headcount planning and compensation frameworks

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in leadership roles within scaling organizations
  • Strong background in people leadership, org design, and systems building
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Experience applying AI thoughtfully to people systems
  • Deep understanding of East African labor environments is an advantage
  • High integrity, empathy, confidence, and cultural awareness
