Head of Housekeeping – Hotel (Amboseli & Maasai Mara)

Role Overview

This is the role that protects first impressions. You will lead housekeeping to keep rooms and public areas consistently clean, well-presented, and ready for guests, while managing supplies, schedules, inspections, and coordination with maintenance and front office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily housekeeping operations for rooms and public areas against required standards
  • Support hiring, training, and coaching of room attendants and laundry staff
  • Prepare duty rosters and assign daily tasks for the team
  • Inspect rooms and public areas, reporting maintenance issues and following up for closure
  • Monitor linen, amenities, and cleaning supplies and place orders when needed
  • Handle housekeeping-related guest requests and complaints promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate with front office and maintenance to support smooth room turnaround
  • Enforce hygiene, safety, and health procedures across the department
  • Ensure housekeeping equipment is maintained and used correctly
  • Participate in audits, inspections, and quality assurance checks for compliance
  • Maintain records such as room status updates and lost-and-found logs
  • Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality, Business Management, or related field
  • At least 2 years’ housekeeping experience in hospitality
  • Relevant professional certification is an advantage
  • Strong leadership, attention to detail, and organisational skills
  • Clear communication and consistent problem-solving approach
  • Strong time management and high integrity
