Head – Corporate Credit Risk Analysis

Role Overview

This is a senior leadership role for a seasoned credit risk professional with the depth, judgement, and authority to shape corporate credit decisions at enterprise level. As Head – Corporate Credit Risk Analysis, you will provide strategic oversight of credit appraisal and approval across all lending units, Treasury, and any function exposing the Bank to credit risk. The role is central to safeguarding asset quality, strengthening risk culture, and ensuring regulatory and policy compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Oversight & Governance

  • Provide oversight and final analysis on all corporate credit proposals from Lending Units, Treasury, and other risk-exposing departments
  • Oversee review and approval of Financial Institutions, Insurance Companies, and Treasury limits as required
  • Ensure appraisal decisions meet agreed SLAs, quality standards, and risk thresholds

Policy, Compliance & Risk Culture

  • Enforce compliance with Bank loan policies, lending guidelines, and Government regulations
  • Coordinate Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM), including policy implementation, reporting, and capacity building
  • Work closely with the Director – Credit Management Division (CMD) to sustain a strong credit risk management culture

Committees, Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership

  • Attend all Credit Committee meetings and provide structured, timely, and well-reasoned responses
  • Escalate complex credit issues to the Director – CMD and other relevant authorities
  • Lead, manage, and develop departmental staff, ensuring adequate capacity, resourcing, and skills

Professional Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain advanced professional knowledge through training, workshops, publications, and professional networks
  • Contribute to industry and professional forums related to credit risk and banking

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field from a recognized university
  • Certification in Credit Management or Credit Analysis
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Credit Analysis, with at least 4 years in a senior/management role within Corporate Credit Risk
  • Strong knowledge of the Banking Act, CBK lending guidelines, and internal banking procedures
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and stakeholder engagement skills
