Head Chef
Role Overview
The gap between nutritional requirements and a high-volume school kitchen often involves friction in hygiene standards and resource management. We are looking for a Head Chef to solve the problem of school catering by aligning our food service with strict health and safety legislation while maintaining a child-friendly menu. Your role is to resolve inefficiencies in the kitchen by establishing comprehensive cleaning programs and meticulous stock control systems. By training a dedicated team and planning menus that address diverse dietary needs and allergies, you will ensure our students receive high-quality, nutritious meals in an environment of professional customer care.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve catering bottlenecks by preparing and serving meals that meet the specific nutritional standards of the school.
- Eliminate hygiene risks by enforcing strict HACCP, GMP, and FSSC 22000 standards throughout the kitchen.
- Solve budgetary issues by monitoring stock levels and performing monthly stocktaking to minimize waste.
- Bridge the communication gap between the kitchen and administration to coordinate food service for special events.
- Resolve dietary challenges by planning menus that accommodate students with allergies or religious restrictions.
- Manage the kitchen team by conducting appraisals, identifying training needs, and mentoring staff.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Hospitality Management (a Degree is an added advantage).
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in a fast-paced catering environment.
- Deep knowledge of food safety, quality control, and sanitation guidelines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for administrative and stock management tasks.
