Fractional Fundraising & Donor Relations Specialist
Role Overview
This fractional role drives sustainable funding by building strong donor relationships, securing grants, and strengthening fundraising systems. The position combines strategic fundraising leadership with hands-on execution in a mission-driven NGO environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, steward, and expand relationships with donors, foundations, and partners
- Meet or exceed annual fundraising and revenue targets
- Research and identify new funding opportunities to diversify income streams
- Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and donor reports
- Maintain an active portfolio of donors and funding opportunities
- Collaborate with leadership and program teams to align fundraising with strategy
- Monitor fundraising performance and report progress to management and the Board
- Maintain accurate donor records and fundraising databases
- Support donor engagement activities, events, and communications
- Mentor and build capacity within fundraising teams or volunteers
- Represent the organization at donor meetings and networking events
Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, or related field
- 8+ years’ experience in NGO fundraising and donor relations
- Proven success securing grants in international and 501(c)(3) NGO environments
- Strong grant writing, reporting, and fundraising strategy skills
- Experience with donor databases and digital fundraising tools
- Deep understanding of Kenyan NGO regulatory frameworks
- High integrity, independence, and strong analytical capability
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently within a part-time engagement model
