The United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is actively recruiting a qualified and highly motivated Fitness Instructor to create excellence within its Wellness Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. This role focuses on delivering high-quality fitness instruction, designing customized programs, and ensuring the safety and engagement of clients through both group classes and personal training sessions within the international UN community.

UNON hosts the UN headquarters in Africa and provides various support services, including the Wellness Centre, which offers fitness and recreational activities for UN staff and affiliates.

Role Overview 🎯

The Fitness Instructor will report directly to the UNEWC Manager and will be responsible for creating and delivering safe, effective fitness programs. Key duties include conducting group fitness classes and personal training, ensuring proper technique and equipment use, promoting packages, and ensuring full compliance with health and safety standards, including being ready to provide First Aid and CPR when needed, offering a valuable wellness career in Nairobi.

Key Responsibilities 🔑

  • Conduct dynamic group fitness classes, personal training sessions, and specialized programs according to the organization’s schedule.
  • Design and implement fitness programs tailored to different fitness levels, emphasizing inclusivity and safety.
  • Provide expert guidance on proper techniques, form, and fitness principles to maximize client results and prevent injuries.
  • Oversee the use of fitness equipment to ensure all clients exercise correctly and safely.
  • Offer strong motivation and encouragement to participants to help them successfully achieve their fitness goals.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health and safety standards during classes and events, ready to perform First Aid and CPR if required.
  • Plan, organize, and facilitate fitness-related events, workshops, and wellness activities.
  • Assist in developing outreach initiatives, marketing materials, schedules, and engaging wellness content.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, class participation, and track participants’ progress.

Qualifications & Experience 🎓

  • Education: A High School Certificate is required.
  • Certification: Must possess a recognized Certificate in fitness from ACE, ITEC, or related professional qualifications.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience from a reputable organization with thorough knowledge of fitness as a service, products, and equipment.
  • Skills: Proven experience and competency in administering CPR and First Aid is desirable.
  • Attributes: Must be professional, customer-service oriented, and dedicated to maintaining high professional standards.
