Employee Relations Specialist I

Role Overview

This role supports employee relations health across assigned business units, guiding managers through performance processes, resolving workplace issues, and strengthening compliance, communication, and people practices using measurable HR data.

Key Responsibilities

• Coach managers and employees through performance management processes
• Serve as the primary HR contact for assigned departments and translate business needs into HR solutions
• Manage employee relations cases including investigations, mediation, and resolution of conduct, performance, or attendance concerns
• Support compliance with labour laws, internal HR policies, and equal employment opportunity program requirements
• Deliver training sessions for managers to strengthen people management and employee relations capability
• Handle HR communications including employment terms, codes of conduct, and workforce change communications
• Partner with Learning and Development to coordinate relevant training opportunities
• Educate employees and managers on HR policies and best practices
• Build HR dashboards and metrics including attrition, headcount, performance ratings, and engagement insights
• Conduct trend analysis to inform HR actions and strategic decisions
• Support engagement and wellness initiatives
• Contribute to HR transformation, systems rollout, and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
• HR certifications such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or CIPD Level 3/5 are preferred
• Registered member of IHRM
• 2–5 years of HR generalist or HR Business Partner experience
• Strong knowledge of HR laws and regulations
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Data-driven mindset and familiarity with HRIS tools
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with strong attention to detail
