Driver (G-2) — UNICEF (Kakuma)

This is a straightforward, essential role providing secure transportation for UN personnel and assets in Kakuma. You will be responsible for the safety of your passengers and the mechanical readiness of your assigned vehicle at all times.

Role Overview

The Driver ensures the smooth movement of staff and documents while adhering to all local traffic laws and UN security protocols. This position requires a professional who values punctuality, safety, discretion, and consistent vehicle maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive office vehicles for the transport of staff, visitors, and official mail
  • Perform daily vehicle inspections and carry out minor mechanical repairs
  • Schedule regular maintenance, oil changes, and professional repairs for the fleet
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs, insurance documentation, and mileage records
  • Assist visitors with basic customs and visa formalities during airport transfers

Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary education and a valid Kenyan driving license
  • At least two years of professional driving experience with an international organization or NGO
  • Thorough understanding of local traffic laws and Kakuma area routes
  • Basic mechanical knowledge for troubleshooting vehicle issues
  • Fluency in English is required
