Deputy Finance Officer

Job Overview

The Deputy Finance Officer provides strategic financial leadership, ensuring compliance with government regulations, sound financial controls, and effective financial planning across the University.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversee preparation of annual financial statements and management reports.
• Authorize payments and ensure compliance with statutory and tax obligations.
• Monitor budget performance and prevent overspending.
• Approve monthly bank reconciliations.
• Facilitate audit responses and resource mobilization initiatives.
• Coordinate budgeting, performance contracting, and quality management processes.
• Mentor and coach finance staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA (K) qualification and ICPAK membership in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience, including 3 years as a Senior Accountant.
• Certificate in Leadership lasting at least four weeks.
• Strong computer application skills and demonstrated leadership ability.
