Credit Operations & Recoveries Lead

Overview

Pezesha is seeking a strategic consultant to lead credit operations and recoveries across its Kenya and Uganda portfolios. This role is responsible for designing data-driven collection strategies, standardizing credit processes, and ensuring full compliance with Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) regulations. You will bridge the gap between strategy and execution, managing both internal teams and External Debt Collectors (EDCs) to maintain a high-quality loan portfolio in the Fintech space.

Responsibilities

• Standardize and document all credit and collection processes to ensure institutional transparency.
• Design and execute data-driven recovery strategies to maintain portfolio health across East Africa.
• Lead and upskill the collections team, implementing automated tools to improve productivity.
• Manage External Debt Collectors (EDCs) through regular audits and accountability metrics.
• Support the Uganda team by escalating risks and reviewing recovery performance.
• Collaborate with the Data team to conduct experiments that improve borrower repayment behavior.
• Ensure strict compliance with CBK regulations and data protection laws.
• Implement an automated collections platform integrated with the Loan Management System (LMS).

Qualifications & Experience

• Expertise: Deep experience in credit operations and recoveries, ideally within Fintech or Banking.
• Analytical Power: Strong data-driven decision-making skills and understanding of the lending lifecycle.
• Leadership: Proven track record in team management and stakeholder engagement.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with CBK requirements for Digital Credit Providers (DCPs).
