Job Description

The Credit Controller at Westland Medical Centre is a results-driven professional responsible for managing the hospital’s accounts receivable and maintaining healthy cash flow. This role involves the meticulous oversight of debtor accounts, including insurance companies, corporate partners, and private individuals. By ensuring timely invoicing and proactive follow-ups on outstanding payments, the Controller minimizes financial risk and ensures that the facility has the liquidity necessary to maintain high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor hospital debtor accounts across insurance, corporate, and private categories
• Conduct proactive follow-ups on outstanding debts through telephone calls, emails, and site visits
• Reconcile debtor statements and resolve any billing discrepancies or payment disputes promptly
• Dispatch monthly invoices and statements of accounts to ensure clients are updated on their balances
• Monitor credit limits for corporate clients and escalate high-risk accounts to the Finance Manager
• Coordinate with the billing department to ensure accurate capture of services for insurance claims
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on debt collection performance and aging analysis
• Ensure full compliance with the hospital’s credit policy and statutory financial regulations

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field
• Professional accounting qualification (CPA Section 4 or equivalent)
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in credit control, specifically within a healthcare or insurance setting
• Strong understanding of medical insurance claim processes and reconciliation
• Proficiency in using hospital management systems and advanced Microsoft Excel
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
