Job Description
The Credit Associate (6-month contract) is responsible for supporting lending operations during a period of high growth. This role focuses on assessing customer creditworthiness, verifying financial and KYC information, and managing repayment follow-ups for financed devices. Reporting to the Director of Credit and Customer Experience, the Associate will work to maintain a healthy portfolio by balancing rapid onboarding call times with meticulous risk assessment and proactive customer engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Review incoming credit and loan applications against defined eligibility and risk criteria
- Collect, verify, and record customer financial and KYC information accurately in internal systems
- Support account setup and activation for approved customers, ensuring complete documentation
- Perform structured repayment follow-ups and execute courtesy calls to maintain portfolio health
- Proactively monitor customer portfolios to identify early signs of risk and negotiate repayment plans
- Provide feedback on process gaps and suggest improvements to credit policies and workflows
- Support ad hoc credit projects related to marketing campaigns or portfolio clean-up initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial and repayment data
- Professionalism and good communication skills for managing customer repayment obligations
- Ability to thrive in a target-driven, fast-paced environment with high ownership
- Immediate availability to commit to a full-time 6-month temporary contract in Nairobi
