Counsellor II

Overview

JKUAT is seeking a Counsellor II to join its counseling department. This position is aimed at experienced professionals who have already served at a Grade 8 level (or equivalent) within a university or similar institution. The role involves higher-level casework and institutional mental health strategy implementation, ensuring that the JKUAT community has access to quality psychological care.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialized counseling interventions for complex psychological and social challenges.
• Oversee counseling programs and welfare projects within the department.
• Provide mentorship or guidance to junior counseling staff where applicable.
• Coordinate with other university departments to ensure holistic student support.
• Ensure all counseling practices meet professional ethical standards and institutional policies.

Qualifications & Experience

• Higher National Diploma in Counseling OR Bachelor’s degree in Counseling OR Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a Diploma in Counseling.
• Mandatory: 5 years of experience in Grade 8 or an equivalent professional position.
• Must be registered with a relevant professional body in Kenya.
