Communications Intern — Wetlands International (Nairobi)

Wetlands International is offering a Communications Internship based in Nairobi. This role is a perfect hands-on learning opportunity for an aspiring communicator passionate about environmental conservation. You will work closely with the Communications Officer to gather field stories, manage social media, and enhance donor visibility for the organization’s regional projects.

Role Overview

The intern supports the day-to-day communication flow, working alongside programme and country teams to document activities. You will gain experience in storytelling, digital photography, and the preparation of basic multimedia content.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft engaging social media posts, captions, and short field articles.
  • Assist in gathering visual content from project sites and partners.
  • Track basic analytics for social media platforms to measure engagement.
  • Capture and edit photos and short video clips using tools like Canva and CapCut.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for events and workshops.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or Media Studies.
  • At least six months of practical experience in a similar role.
  • Strong interest in digital communications and environmental storytelling.
  • Basic skills in videography and multimedia editing.
