Job Description
Eagle HR Consultants is recruiting a Commis-Chef for a client in Nairobi. This is a great opportunity for a culinary professional to work under the guidance of a Sous Chef in a high-standard kitchen environment. You will be involved in the preparation, cooking, and service of food while ensuring that all quality and hygiene standards are strictly maintained.
Role Overview
The Commis-Chef assists senior chefs by preparing ingredients, managing stock rotation, and ensuring food orders are produced on time. You will be responsible for following recipes accurately to maintain consistent quality and will participate in daily kitchen procedures like temperature checks and food labeling.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve food according to Sous Chef instructions and agreed quality standards.
- Monitor stock movement and handle ordering for your specific kitchen section.
- Maintain clean work surfaces and surroundings while complying with all statutory health and safety requirements.
- Carry out kitchen opening and closing procedures and maintain records of food dating and storage.
- Work constructively within the team to provide exceptional customer service.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Diploma in Food Production; a Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage.
- 1-2 years of working experience in food production.
- Sound knowledge of kitchen management and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Good hand-eye coordination, a keen sense of taste/smell, and the ability to work under pressure.
