Collections Manager, Asset Finance

Role Overview

This role leads the recovery and rehabilitation of asset finance portfolios, balancing risk control, customer engagement, and regulatory compliance. You will drive collections strategy while managing sensitive customer relationships and impairment outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Review asset finance accounts in early arrears and recommend remediation strategies
• Implement approved recovery plans and monitor portfolio performance
• Reduce migration of accounts into higher risk classifications
• Conduct customer visits and prepare detailed call reports for management
• Prepare and review detailed Collections Progress Reports for assigned portfolios
• Coordinate recoveries with brokers, auctioneers, valuers, insurers, and trackers
• Maintain accurate loan documentation and asset finance registers
• Manage repossessions, storage records, and auction sales documentation
• Achieve portfolio targets for collections, recoveries, impairments, and case life
• Lead negotiations on settlements, restructures, and write-off recommendations
• Formulate and implement proactive collections strategies
• Manage customer relationships professionally, including politically sensitive cases
• Ensure compliance with internal approvals, provisioning policies, and audits
• Monitor service providers against agreed SLAs and performance standards
• Work closely with Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders on vulnerable accounts

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA, CFA, Credit Management) is an advantage
• 5–8 years’ experience in banking or financial services
• At least 4 years’ experience in collections, recoveries, or remedial management
• Strong understanding of asset-based lending and asset finance processes
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Strong risk management, reporting, and decision-making capability
