Job Description

Class Two Teacher

Role Overview

Joining the faculty at Nairobi Waldorf School offers a distinct path for an educator who wants to nurture the “whole child” through a developmental model of education. By guiding a Class Two group, you gain the opportunity to transition from standard rote instruction to an artistic, rhythmic pedagogy rooted in the principles of Anthroposophy. We provide a collaborative environment where you can weave painting, music, and storytelling into daily academic lessons, fostering thinking, feeling, and willing in every student. This is an excellent prospect for a teacher looking to build a career in a supportive community that values spiritual growth and creative education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a rhythmic classroom environment that balances academic instruction with artistic activities like painting and form drawing.
  • Develop and execute written main lesson plans that are age-appropriate and enthusiasm-driven.
  • Act as a loving authority figure, providing a conscious model of responsible behavior and reverence for the students.
  • Foster a shared vision for each child’s development through warm, professional parent-teacher conferences.
  • Collaborate with the faculty to share insights and contribute to the beauty and order of the shared school grounds.
  • Continuously observe and reflect on the individual needs of your students to tailor your teaching approach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education and mandatory TSC registration.
  • Prior experience teaching children, with a strong familiarity with modern methodologies.
  • Waldorf training (or a commitment to pursue training upon employment) is highly valued.
  • Deep understanding of child development and the Waldorf pedagogy.
  • Ability to work artistically and creatively while maintaining organized, timely classroom management.
