Chief Paediatrician — Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital (Nairobi)

Gertrude’s Children’s Hospital is seeking an exceptional leader for the position of Chief Paediatrician. This is a high-level clinical and strategic role within one of the region’s premier paediatric facilities. You will be responsible for setting the standard for patient care, fostering a culture of clinical excellence, and leading a multidisciplinary team in a tertiary care setting.

Role Overview

The Chief Paediatrician provides clinical governance and leadership across all paediatric services. You will oversee quality and safety initiatives, drive research and innovation, and ensure that the hospital remains at the forefront of paediatric emergency management and child health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic clinical leadership and oversee patient care standards.
  • Implement robust clinical governance and safety protocols.
  • Lead and mentor a large team of specialists and residents.
  • Drive institutional research and innovative care models.
  • Foster collaboration with external health partners and medical councils.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Paediatrics and Child Health (MMED); a Fellowship in a sub-specialty is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBChB).
  • Current license to practice from the KMPDC.
  • Minimum 10 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a senior hospital leadership role.
  • Proven excellence in managing complex paediatric emergencies.
