Job Description

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides the overall leadership and strategic direction for the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA). This high-level role is responsible for ensuring the effective regulation and supervision of the Sacco sub-sector in Kenya to maintain financial stability and protect members’ interests. The CEO translates the Board’s vision into operational success, managing institutional performance, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance to ensure that the Authority meets its statutory mandates and promotes a robust Sacco industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of the Authority’s strategic plan and institutional policies
• Oversee the regulation and supervision of Sacco societies to ensure compliance with the Sacco Societies Act
• Manage the Authority’s financial, human, and technological resources to optimize operational performance
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Authority, the National Treasury, and other regulatory bodies
• Represent SASRA in national and international forums related to financial regulation and cooperatives
• Ensure the effective implementation of risk management and internal control frameworks
• Provide regular strategic updates and recommendations to the Board of Directors
• Foster a culture of professional excellence, integrity, and transparency within the organization

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or a related field
• Extensive experience in senior management within the financial services or regulatory sector
• Deep understanding of the cooperative movement and financial regulatory frameworks in Kenya
• Proven track record of strategic leadership, institutional transformation, and stakeholder management
• Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing
• Strong negotiation, communication, and decision-making abilities
