About Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA)
The Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) is a pioneering conservation organization dedicated to protecting wildlife and empowering Maasai communities across Kenya’s Mara ecosystem. MMWCA works with landowners, conservancies, and partners to promote sustainable tourism, habitat protection, and community development. Through collaborative programs such as the One Mara Carbon Project (OMCP), the organization plays a key role in advancing climate action, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood improvement.
Role Overview
MMWCA seeks a visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the One Mara Carbon Project (OMCP) and guide the strategic direction of the organization. The CEO will oversee conservation initiatives, institutional growth, financial sustainability, and multi-stakeholder partnerships in the Maasai Mara region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute organizational and project strategies aligned with carbon standards.
- Lead the implementation of OMCP’s mission across multiple conservancies.
- Oversee governance, legal setup, and financial management for long-term growth.
- Engage local communities, government entities, and international stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with national regulations, donor expectations, and sustainability standards.
- Represent MMWCA and OMCP at high-level forums and fundraising events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or Business.
- At least 10 years’ senior-level experience in conservation, climate, or development sectors.
- Proven leadership in managing multi-million-shilling projects.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and organizational skills.
- Master’s degree and familiarity with carbon certification processes are an added advantage.
