Chairperson of Audit Committee
Role Overview
The Intergovernmental Relation Technical Committee (IGRTC) requires a Chairperson for the Audit Committee to provide factual oversight of our internal controls and risk management processes. This is a senior governance role strictly focused on chairing committee meetings, setting strategic agendas, and reporting on decisions to the Technical Committee. The position involves the direct monitoring of internal and external audit recommendations and the periodic appraisal of the Internal Audit function’s effectiveness. All activities must be performed in strict accordance with the PFM Regulations 2015 and the Audit Committee Guidelines for National Government 2016.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the proceedings of all audit committee meetings and define the strategic meeting agendas.
- Provide objective assurance to the Technical Committee regarding the health of risk management and governance systems.
- Monitor the implementation status of all recommendations made by internal and external auditors.
- Review the performance and effectiveness of the Internal Audit function on a periodic basis.
- Act as the primary liaison between the audit committee and the Technical Committee leadership.
- Ensure all committee operations comply with the Public Finance Management Regulations and Chapter Six of the Constitution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- At least 10 years of experience serving at a senior management level.
- Active membership in good standing with ICPAK, ACCA, or the IIA.
- Comprehensive understanding of public sector legislation and risk management best practices.
- Must not be a current or past employee of the Committee within the last two years.
