Business Development Account Associate
Role Overview
Your territory is your scorecard. In this role, you drive SME growth by building pipelines, converting opportunities, and keeping enterprise customers and indirect partners engaged—consistently and visibly—across an assigned region.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver overall revenue and acquisition targets for the assigned territory/region
- Uphold Safaricom’s code of conduct, policies, and procedures with integrity and accountability
- Adhere to safety, health, and wellbeing policies and procedures in all work decisions and actions
- Identify, develop, and close new SME opportunities focused on Enterprise solutions
- Build strong customer relationships in allocated territories and increase awareness and adoption of Enterprise solutions
- Support enterprise dealers, agency sales teams, and regional/territorial management within SME and retail channels
- Achieve revenue targets by selling the full portfolio of Enterprise solutions
- Maintain sufficient sales pipelines to meet billed revenue targets
- Develop plans to achieve billed revenue targets for dealers and sales agents in the territory/region
- Monitor Gross Adds targets and activate relevant sales channels to deliver against the targets
- Maintain accurate dealer and partner sales trackers and ensure consistent updates
- Implement agreed dealer management plans and recommend new growth areas for assigned dealers
- Identify and profile businesses within the territory; maintain an up-to-date business database and account profiles
- Develop and execute route plans that provide complete territory coverage
- Identify market opportunities, document them, and submit practical recommendations for action
- Resolve dealer and customer issues proactively and drive strong customer service ratings
- Build long-term business relationships and partnerships with customers and assigned dealers
- Maintain 100% accuracy on reporting for market intelligence and customer feedback
- Submit territory reports and dealer/partner trackers on time
- Keep competitor intelligence current and actionable
- Activate alternative channels (partnerships, agency) to drive sales and acquisition
- Support retail as a channel for delivery of Enterprise KPIs
Qualifications
- Honors Degree/Diploma in Business Administration or Bachelor of Commerce from a recognised university
- At least 3 years’ experience selling enterprise solutions (directly and/or via partners)
- Experience managing indirect channels in a telecoms environment is an added advantage
- Strong business acumen with resilience and a practical, target-driven mindset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work under pressure
- Willingness to work anywhere in Kenya
- Valid BCE driving licence with no recent driving violations
