Job Description

The Bearing Assembler is a technical role within a heavy industrial environment, responsible for the precise assembly and maintenance of critical mechanical components. This position requires a high degree of mechanical aptitude to interpret technical drawings and manuals accurately. Working within a manufacturing setting, the assembler ensures that all work meets quality standards, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the rolling mill operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and maintain bearings and related mechanical components according to specifications
• Read and interpret complex mechanical drawings and technical maintenance manuals
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform precision repairs to minimize downtime
• Ensure all workmanship adheres to strict quality and safety standards
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in a heavy industrial environment
• Collaborate with the wider maintenance and production teams to optimize machinery performance
• Document maintenance activities and report on component status
• Adhere to shift schedules and flexible working hours as required by production needs

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum KCSE certificate; a Certificate in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred
• At least 5 years of general experience in the manufacturing industry
• Minimum of 2 years of specific experience in bearing assembly or related mechanical maintenance
• Hands-on experience in rolling mills is considered a significant advantage
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capabilities
• Basic computer literacy and ability to work under minimal supervision
• Physical fitness suitable for a heavy industrial environment
