Role Overview
The Barista is responsible for beverage preparation, customer interaction, and hygiene management of the coffee station. Key duties include preparing a wide range of hot and cold beverages (coffee, tea, smoothies) with professional presentation, customizing orders based on preferences or medical guidance, monitoring stock levels, and collaborating with the catering team to support special orders for hospital events and conferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Beverage Preparation: Prepare and serve a wide range of hot and cold beverages (coffee, tea, juices, smoothies) in line with required quality standards, ensuring consistency and professional presentation.
- Customization & Guidance: Customize beverages based on customer preferences, dietary needs, or medical guidance.
- Customer Service: Deliver warm, courteous, and professional service to staff, patients, and visitors; handle inquiries, feedback, and complaints politely.
- Operations & Hygiene: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station, equipment, and utensils in accordance with hospital hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Inventory: Monitor stock levels, request replenishment, and ensure proper storage, rotation, and usage of supplies.
- Event Support: Support special beverage orders and catering needs for hospital meetings, events, and conferences; assist in additional catering tasks as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Previous experience as a Barista in a busy environment.
- Education: Certificate/Diploma in Food & Beverage Service or Hospitality.
- Certification: Barista certification is required.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of coffee brewing methods and modern beverage preparation techniques; basic knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and infection control.
- Competencies: Excellent customer service and communication skills; strong attention to detail; professionalism, empathy, and ability to work in a fast-paced, sensitive hospital setting.
