Assistant Printer
Role Overview
The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development requires an Assistant Printer to manage the daily production of national educational materials. This is a factual, technical position focused on the mechanical and operational aspects of our high-volume lithographic and letterpress facilities. The role involves the direct supervision of book production and security printing cycles, ensuring that all curriculum support materials are printed to exact quality specifications. You will be responsible for the scheduling of machines, the handling of classified print jobs, and the routine maintenance of our technical infrastructure to ensure that the production schedule meets the national educational calendar.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage all scheduled printing jobs for lithographic and letterpress machinery.
- Oversee the activities of specialized units including Book Production, Security Printing, and General Printing.
- Execute quality control checks on all printed materials to ensure they meet institutional standards.
- Prepare detailed work schedule sheets and machine loading logs to maximize production efficiency.
- Manage the proof-reading and production of classified or sensitive curriculum materials.
- Report machine faults immediately and supervise the programming of new printing development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Diploma in Printing Technology from a recognized technical institution.
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of C- (Minus).
- Basic computer literacy and experience with digital printing workflows.
- Minimum of two years of practical experience in a high-volume printing environment.
- Full compliance with the Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution of Kenya.
