Assistant Counsellor I

Overview

Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is recruiting an Assistant Counsellor I to provide psychological support and guidance services within the institution. This role is essential for fostering student and staff well-being, requiring a professional with a solid academic foundation in counseling or social sciences and significant practical experience in a structured environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional counseling services to students and staff.
• Conduct assessments and develop appropriate intervention plans for diverse psychological needs.
• Maintain confidential records of client sessions and progress.
• Facilitate workshops and awareness programs on mental health and social issues.
• Support institutional welfare initiatives and student development programs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Mandatory: Higher National Diploma with 5 years of relevant work experience; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling; OR
• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences plus a Diploma in Counseling.
• Registration with a relevant professional body is a requirement for all applicants.
