Job Description

The Agronomy Manager (Senior Agronomy Coordinator) provides strategic leadership for sustainability and agronomy programs within the Kenyacof supply chain. This role acts as a technical link between coffee estates, cooperatives, and smallholder farmers to drive productivity and quality. The manager is responsible for overseeing field extension teams, managing operational budgets, and accelerating the adoption of regenerative agriculture and climate-resilience practices. The position ensures that all field activities align with Kenyan coffee production standards and international certification requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee sustainability project activities involving over 60,000 farmers across the supply chain
• Lead the design of agronomic programs, including soil fertility, coffee husbandry, and yield optimization
• Manage operational budgets and track expenses for all project-related field activities
• Mentor and manage field extension teams, agronomy technicians, and soil scientists
• Drive the adoption of regenerative agriculture and climate adaptation initiatives
• Oversee the implementation of agronomic trials and on-farm demonstrations
• Support the Certification Coordinator in managing internal and external audits and compliance standards
• Train field teams and farm managers on certification requirements and corrective action plans

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agriculture, or Environmental Science
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience within the Kenyan agricultural sector
• Extensive knowledge of Kenyan coffee production systems and husbandry protocols
• Proven leadership experience managing field extension teams and technical staff
• Strong understanding of regenerative agriculture, IPM, and soil fertility management
• Experience in agricultural project monitoring, reporting, and budget oversight
