Energy Access Portfolio Lead

Role Overview

The Energy Access Portfolio Lead will drive the strategic growth, design, and delivery of energy access initiatives across Kenya and the region. The role blends technical leadership, business development, and stakeholder engagement to expand access to affordable, sustainable energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the strategic direction of the Energy Access Portfolio in line with Palladium’s growth objectives.
  • Lead the design and delivery of complex energy access programs, including mini-grids, solar home systems, clean cooking, and productive use of energy.
  • Advise governments, donors, financial institutions, and private sector actors on policy, regulation, business models, and access to finance.
  • Build, lead, and mentor multidisciplinary technical and commercial teams.
  • Lead business development efforts, including opportunity identification, proposal development, and client management.
  • Ensure technical excellence, innovation, and quality assurance across all portfolio deliverables.
  • Represent Palladium in sector forums, conferences, and high-level stakeholder engagements.
  • Monitor market and policy trends to identify emerging opportunities and risks.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years’ experience in energy access, rural electrification, and productive uses of energy.
  • Strong leadership experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven expertise in policy, regulation, results-based finance, and access to finance.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience with proposal development and P&L accountability.
