1:1 Learning Support Teacher

Role Overview

The primary challenge in 1:1 support is bridging the gap between a learner’s specific needs and the broader classroom curriculum. We are looking for an educator who can solve the problem of academic frustration by designing differentiated instructional pathways that foster both independence and self-regulation. Your role is to resolve learning hurdles through personalized intervention, utilizing specialized techniques like Orton Gillingham to unlock a student’s potential. By collaborating with specialists and families, you will ensure that social-emotional support is seamlessly integrated into the academic day, turning daily hardships into stellar achievements for your student.

Key Responsibilities

• Resolve complex learning barriers by creating and delivering highly personalized, differentiated lesson plans.
• Implement evidence-based reading instruction and specialized interventions to improve literacy and numeracy outcomes.
• Eliminate behavioral friction by teaching self-regulation strategies and fostering the learner’s independence.
• Bridge the communication gap between the classroom and home by providing regular, data-driven updates to families.
• Facilitate inclusive learning by working closely with homeroom teachers to adapt classroom materials for the student.
• Participate in regular reflective practice sessions to continuously refine and improve support strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education (Mandatory).
• Valid TSC number (Mandatory).
• Minimum of two years of experience, specifically within 1:1 or inclusive education settings.
• Working knowledge of Orton Gillingham or similar reading instruction frameworks is highly preferred.
• Demonstrated dedication to child-centered learning and the values of Woodland Star.
